johnny Morse and Merle Hagen are up in Hanover this weekend setting the machinery in motion for next June's 25th Reunion. They departed New York on a good note. They had just heard from Frank Parker, regional sales manager for Anheuser-Busch, that he was donating the beer, Budweiser draft, for the weekend. One more example of the lucky star under which our beverage chairman, George Bruce, was born.

Lawyer Don Davidson will be making the trek next June to Hanover from Seattle. He was recently at school for the first time in many years visiting his freshman son Ken. He let it be known that he would definitely be on hand next year. It appears there are quite a number from the west coast.

I'm sorry to report that in recent months, we lost, by death, two of the better men in the class. Gil Frank, manager of the Stamford brokerage office of Shields and Company, died at St. Joseph's Hospital there. During World War II, Gil was with the Army Air Force and assigned to the Manhattan project. I also received word this week that Colonel Fred Hickey passed away April 4. The Class extends their deepest sympathy to Gil's and Fred's families.

Newton's Mayor, Monty Basbas, was recently sworn in by Governor John A. Volpe as a member of the State's Municipal Police Training Council.

J.A. Desmore's son, young J.A., has followed in the old man's footsteps and has made quite a name for himself in skiing circles. He recently participated in the Junior Regional Ski Championship in Bozeman, Mont. There was a good photo of him in the newspaper standing before the Lebanon High School trophy case which is well stocked with his Dad's honors.

Bud Park and his wife Dorcas, who collaborated in a law partnership 18 years ago, have now become authors of renown in the legal profession. They have just completed a 900-page tome on Massachusetts Conveyancing establishing themselves as authorities on state real estate laws. The husband-wife team had been working on the book for over four years.

Art Scharf has been named deputy general manager of Mobil Oil Sudan Limited, and is currently making his home in Khartoum, Sudan.

Don Sheridan has taken over the reins as chief executive officer of L.J. Sheridan and Company. The firm is one of the largest real estate companies in the country, maintaining offices in Los Angeles, Milwaukee, and St. Paul and managing 16 of Chicago's big office buildings. Don has been invited to membership in the American Society of Real Estate Counselors and is president of the Building Managers Association of Chicago.

Quite a number of '44's returned for Freshmen Fathers' Weekend earlier this year. Insurance executive Al Barrett was up to see his son Mac. Still in Baltimore, Al currently serves on the board of trustees of Gilman Country Day School and is Dartmouth's recruiting agent for prospective freshmen.

Rog Feldman was there with his son Mike. Rog has recently expanded his plane cleaning business to include civilian and military airports here in the U.S. and abroad. Gordy Ross, an executive with Timken Roller Bearings, was up to see his son Chris. Gordy's older son is with the Peace Corps in India.

Dr. Jack Shapleigh was there with his son John. Jack specializes in internal medicine in St. Louis and is also medical director for the Mallinckrodt Chemical Co.

Dr. Bill Trier was there with his namesake. As you know, Bill is current assistant professor of plastic surgery at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

Ray Zrike was also there with his son Steve. Artist Charlie Greer passed through school early in the year on a skiing trip with the kids to the Okemo ski area.
