Due to the special insert on "The College of Tomorrow" in this month's issue, I'm forced to make a drastic cut in the length of the column this time but will make it up at a later date. Appropriately with this issue, I am pleased to draw your attention to the fact that the College now has an honor system. Passed by a campus-wide referendum in early February, I think many of you will agree that it represents a truly significant move in the direction of educational excellence which our country and Dartmouth both want and deserve.

An informative letter from Dan Wilkes catches us up on the doings of quite a few '58s, among them Tom Green who is a Branch Store Coordinator with Macy's in New York after having completed several assistantships in buying and a Macy training program. Tom is engaged to Carol Lewis of San Antonio. Now stationed in Germany following their reactivation with their New York Air National Guard unit are Dick Roth and Gersh Abraham. Recently integrated into Army life were RogGreene, who practiced law in N. Y. after Yale Law School and who is now at Ft. Knox, Ky., and Jeff Pickett, a Harvard Law grad, who's now whooping it up at Ft. Dix, N. J. Also at Dix I understand is PhilWeinseimer. Living in Long Island with his wife Helen and their new baby is Joel Portugal, who's selling for the Knickerbocker Toy Corp. Working for Revlon and reportedly living in a "Playboy" kind of environment is Bob Jaffe.

A note from Dick Lowry reveals wedding plans for him and Carol Edwards of Cincinnati in April. Dick's working in Hamilton, Ohio, for Champion Papers, Inc.

In abiding with ALUMNI MAGAZINE desires, I'm leaving an awful lot unsaid this month. I apologize to those whose news items were omitted but promise to include them next month. Before squeaking to a halt, however, permit me to call to your attention the fact that that glorious paragon of Dartmouth virility, that pillar of moral strength, Lincoln A. Mitchell, has succumbed to the feminine charm and grace of one Jacquelin Baumgarten of Houston. At an open-air ceremony which I regrettably could not attend, Jackie and Mitch were married in the presence of only one other '5B, Maestro Puffy Stoddart who was there with wife Nan in tow. Mitch is finishing up at Stanford Law School this spring in addition to maintaining his typically close surveillance of the class newsletter. In the event that you have any good word to pass alons to Mitch, please address it to 367 Addison Ave., Palo Alto, Calif.
