On February 17, 1962, Dartmouth graduates in the Yokosuka, Japan, area were delighted to host Professor Charles B. McLane '41, when he visited Japan on the way home from an extensive tour of Southeast Asian countries. Though small in number, this stalwart, enthusiastic group of sword-rattlers, doctors, scholars, and their wives enjoyed an evening of spirited discussion of conditions and personalities in Southeast Asia. The pow-wow was held in Captain Sherman's '38 quarters at the U.S. Navy's large base at Yokosuka. On Sunday morning, following an inspection of Base and Seventh Fleet units, Professor McLane entrained for Tokyo where he saw the sights of that city with another Dartmouth Indian, Mr, MasachikaOnodera '58.
