JAMES B. REYNOLDS Scholarships for study abroad next year have been awarded by the College to eight Dartmouth seniors. The recipients and their study plans are:

John C. Blew, Orland Park, Ill., political theory at the London School of Economics; Robert Mr Brodkey, Omaha, Neb., Asian history at the University of Malaya; Gerald L. Cohen, New York City, Slavic linguistics at Linacre House, Oxford; Peter T. Knight, Cleveland Heights, Ohio, philosophy, politics, and economics at Worcester College, Oxford; James F. O'Brien II, Princeton, N. J., Russian literature at Jesus College, Oxford; James G. Page II, Haverhill, Mass., philosophy, politics, and economics at Church College, Oxford; Edward J. Schumacher, Rockville Center, N. Y., political science at the London School of Economics; and William S. Shanahan, Falls Church, Va., the Japanese language in Japan.

The scholarships provide a stipend of $2000 each and go to outstanding seniors chosen by the Faculty Committee on Graduate Fellowships. They were inaugurated in 1950 through the bequest of the late James B. Reynolds '90, Washington customs lawyer who had been Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, secretary of the Republican National Committee, and a close friend of President Coolidge.
