SEVEN Dartmouth College students have been awarded Woodrow Wilson Fellowships for graduate study in 1963-64, and three students have received honorable mention.

The recipients and their fields of study are: Peter P. Andre '63, Montclair, N.J., mathematics; Kendall E. Bailes '62, Merriam, Kan., history; Thomas D. Bracken '63, Seattle, Wash., physics; George E. Cooke '64, Rosemont, Pa., mathematics; George W. Gaffney '63, Omaha, Neb., physics; Dennis M. Kratz '63, Baltimore, Md., classics; and Steven H. Spahn '63, New York, N.Y., history.

The fellowships, awarded to 1,475 students this year, cover tuition and fees for the first year at the graduate school of the student's choice, plus a $1500 stipend. The program was established in 1945 to recruit promising students for the college teaching profession and support them during their first year of graduate study.

The three men who received honorable mention are Dale C. Carr '62, Des Moines, Iowa, musicology; William L. Diehl '63, Kenilworth, Ill., English, and Richard B. Freeman '64, Oradell, N.J., economics.
