THE president of the General Alumni Association of Dartmouth College for 1963-64 will be Lloyd U. Nolan Jr. '39 of Newport News, Virginia. The announcement of the election of Mr. Nolan to the presidency of this 109-year-old association was made during the program following the Commencement Dinner in the Nathaniel Leverone Field House on June 15.

Mr. Nolan is Chairman of the Board of the Nolan Co., Inc. of Newport News, a large independent wholesale distributor of mechanical equipment and machine tools. He is also Chairman of the Board of the Virginia Engineering Co. of the same city, and holds similar executive responsibilities for Richmond Hotels, Inc. and Biggs Antique Co., both in Richmond. He is a director of the Tidewater Construction Corp. of Norfolk and the State-Planters Bank & Trust Co. of Richmond. He has had numerous positions of civic responsibility with the Peninsula United Fund, the Peninsula Industrial Committee, and the Boys' Club of Virginia Peninsula. The one-time varsity basketball manager and member of Palaeopitus and Casque and Gauntlet is married to the former Jane Kiefaber, sister of his '39 classmate Warner Kiefaber, and they have four children.

Other Alumni Association officers elected for 1963-64 include three vice presidents: Melville P. Merritt '20 of Boston, Fred P. McKenzie '24 of New York City, and Rufus L. Sisson Jr. 'l4 of Potsdam, N. Y.; and the secretary-treasurer, Sidney C. Hayward '26 of Hanover.

Rupert C. Thompson Jr. '28 of Providence, R. I., was elected chairman of the executive committee, making him exofficio a member of the Alumni Council. Other members are Ernest H. Earley '18 of New York City; George W. Rand '19 of Hanover; Richard M. Lansburgh '43 of Pikesville, Md.; Howard L. Gilman '44 of New York City; Charles A. Cleveland '45 of Bronxville, N. Y.; and William A. Jenkins '54 of Mexico City.
