MEDICO SURGICAL REFERENCE MSR. Edited by Richard M. Robin '29and Irving M. Levitas '29. Oradell, N. J.:Medical Economics, 1963. 152 pp.

By these compilations of data on instruments and equipment, about which physicians know but are unaware of the hows and wheres of procuring them Richard M. Robin '29 has rendered a real service to the medical profession. In the second of these two volumes, another alumnus, Irving M. Levitas, M.D., provided able collaboration.

Medico Surgical Armamentarium, Edition 1, 1961, dedicated to research workers and to Doctor Albert Schweitzer, and supported by an imposing list of consultants, acquaints the reader with detailed information concerning recent developments in surgical equipment. Description, utilization, and availability of these medico-surgical aids, from the simplest to the most complex, will allow the physician to replace many voluminous catalogues with this one compact, accurate volume. A special section, a forum on current medical and surgical problems, ranging from sepsis to the two-year medical school, offers an interesting variation for the reader, as does a section on the construction of medical words and glossary.

Medico Surgical Reference, First Edition 1963, published by Medical Economics Incorporated to replace Medico SurgicalArmamentarium, serves to inform the physician of 1963 surgical instruments and medical equipment. The triple index — by manufacturers, by field of practice, and by classification of product - enables the doctor to locate desired material promptly. Finally, the 1963 Service Information Section describes booklets, brochures, films, and reprints available to assist in the determination of procedure.

Certainly these books fulfill their purpose of being the "best friend a memory every had."
