Sally and your Secretary have been made very happy by the flood of cards and letters from classmates and our girls during the holiday season. It's been wonderful to hear from each of you and our sincere thanks for the many kind words of appreciation. Next month, when I have more time, I shall give you some of the intimate news of the 1904 families. One happy bit of news, most every one seemed to be holding his own. Even some of the boys were more steady on their feet.

Talked with the Vail family, the Kid was home and comfortable. They are grateful for cards and letters sent. Same with Fords, Hatches, Burdetts — Keep them rolling, boys. Best medicine in the world.

Some cards came to us from some of you birds rarely heard from: Child Lewis, out in Montana; Eddie MacLennan, out in California and Harry Morse wrote a wonderfully interesting letter. Bruce Sanborn sent a lovely gift from Kimberly Clark — BullTurner sent a diary, to keep tabs on each of you during 1964. Lester Gibson, Herbie Callman, Perce Hobbs, Artie Bolster, Whit, and Witham. Major Sharpe asks for a bed under my tree along with a case of #2 rare Burgundy as a pillow. It's a great lift to your Secretary to have a line from you modest youths. Go straight, keep out of jail, finish the race on the level - and wind up in Hanover, June 12-14 for the 60th.

Ike Maynard and the Edgerlys were down to see us a few days ago coming from Day — tona Beach and Ormond Beach. It was grand to see them. Edge and Bertha get around slowly, but they get there.

The Secretary regrets to report the death of Mrs. Linwood S. Durgin of Lewiston, Me. She left two sons, both Dartmouth graduates and a daughter. Expressions of sympathy and respects from the class have been sent to the family.

A few Saturdays back, the Secretary watched on TV the football game between University of North Carolina and Mississippi State — while watching the game he was reminded that our classmate HarryChase was at one time (1919-1930) President of the University of North Carolina and he turned to the life history of Harry in the 1954 class book. Harry had been one of the outstanding educators of his day. Read the record he left, you will be proud of his achievements and the honors he re- ceived. A great credit to the class and Dartmouth.

Recently got a letter and a fine picture of our Jimmie Brotherhood. As a feller says "He ain't grown an inch in sixty years, and he ain't bigger than a pint of cider," but there is enough punch left in that atom to send a man to the moon.

Leon Webster is doing a wonderful job in the preparation of our 60th Reunion, June 12-14. Make that 1964 New Year promise and tell him you are coming. What a welcome you will receive!!!

Sally joins me in our best wishes to each of you boys and girls for a Happy New Year - Keep well!

With great sadness we report the death of our classmate, Dr. Leroy Vail, on December 31.1 will have more details next month.
