TO THE FORE IN SIXTY-FOUR

Laurence C. Chase passed away at his home, 15 Carleton St., Littleton, N.H., on the afternoon of February 3, 1964 from a heart attack. He had returned his card hoping to be present at our 55th in June. We shall miss "Elsie."

Col. Burr P. Irwin passed away in the Eustis Hospital, Eustis, Fla., on February 11, 1964. He had not been in too good health this winter and had been at his Mt. Dora, Fla., home only a short time when he had to be hospitalized.

Edgar S. Chappelear has taken a 3½ room apartment in the new "Mandalay Shores" apartment building at Clearwater, Fla.

Elbert M. Moffatt reports from his home 1604 Tanglewood Road, Columbia, S.C., that he was confined to the hospital most of the fall with a mild heart attack. He got home for Christmas but goes to a clinic weekly. He will be 80 on April 30.

Hearty congratulations from 1909 to Vernon and Charlotte West who celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on March 11 and to Chester and Martha Brett who celebrate theirs on April 4.

On February 16, at the Dartmouth College Service in Rollins Chapel, a pair of three-branch silver candlesticks were dedicated to the glory of God and the memory of Wallace Mason Ross from his lifelong friends in the Upper Valley Club of Boston. Helen was in Hanover for the service.

On February 17, our classmate Wilbur I. Bull was one of the honored guests at a meeting in Alumni Hall of the Hopkins Center when the Hanover Chamber of Comnierce paid tribute to some of the Senior Citizens of Hanover and vicinity.

Birthday greetings go this month to James H. Brannun, Joseph A. Goodheart, Sidney C. Hazelton, Sanford B. Hooker, Elbert M Moffatt, and Linn L. White.

19 members of 1909 belonged to the Dartmouth Educational Association of Boston in 1964. This organization has for its purpose the assisting of needy students preparing and pursuing courses of study at Dartmouth College.

The 50th Alumni Fund Campaign starts this month and 1909 has a great opportunity to show its esteem for departed classmates and what they have meant to each one of us by making contributions early and a little larger than usual.

Take care of your health so that you can join in the 55th reunion in June.
