The Dartmouth Club of Philadelphia turned out strong in March to welcome President Dickey, whose warm and eloquent comments on college affairs were good to hear. Binney Tower, Charlie Dorkey, BillWhitmarsh, and your secretary assured President Dickey before dinner that Dartmouth 1943 was an outstanding class and that we intended to have a tremendous Hanover gathering this June. In fact, Jack Meleney's roster of definite acceptances for the reunion made Binney comment that this could be the greatest turnout this class has ever had. Everything points to it. So make your plans now. And you West Coasters, stop making excuses for distance. Half a day's traveling will get you from California to Hanover - and there are inducements like family plans, night coach, etc. Bill Whit-marsh told his fellow lumber merchant, Bill Barrett '44, that he was giving up an ocean yacht race to attend. ... Heard the rumor that Milt Binswanger may not make it. Bus, will you write him a letter and tell him to tear himself away from Memphis for a few days?

Roy Watson faces a busy year as president American Hotel and Motel Association including a swing to Rio de Janeiro in May and Paris in September. The Hanover Hotel Association will defect if Roy doesn't show up in Hanover this June. ... Tom Munn is now the regional director of agencies for the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Co., Newark. A CLU, The Winger lives in West Caldwell, N.J., with wife Ann and children Bill and Sondra. ... Rod Wolbarst is vice-president, PR Associates, Inc., the public relations affiliate of Gaynor and Ducas, Inc., New York advertising agency. Rod and Lee live in Rowayton, Conn., with children Susan 14, and Tommy 11. ... Bob Bowman and Bette are Darien residents. Bob seems like Norwalk's busiest civic worker as president YMCA board, member United Fund board, Development Committee Norwalk Hospital, executive committee Manufacturer's Council, corporator South Norwalk Savings Bank. In his spare time he is president of C.R. Gibson and Company.

Relly Raff man and his collaborator, Albert Southwick, have received a $2000 grant from the Ella Lyman Cabot Trust to complete a comic opera for the After Dinner Opera of New York, well-known touring company. The Cabot trust was established to help people with projects at the critical moment in the development of creative ideas. The finished opera should be ready this spring to be added to the opera company's repertoire. Relly is presently on leave from duties as chairman of the music department, Clark University, Worcester.

Good to hear from Tom Schroth, executive editor, "Congressional Quarterly Service," who says nothing really has changed in his life except an address or two. CQ plans to publish shortly "Congress and the Nation," reviewing legislation and politics in the postwar years 1945-64. Book will appeal, says Tom, to professionals and others interested in Congress and politics.

Stuff-we-never-had-in-our-day department: Dartmouth's new computer, according to a news release, will service faculty and students on research projects. "Virtually everyone on campus - faculty, students, and administrative officers - can simply step to one of the imput stations and type out his problem. A problem with a few thousand steps will be answered in seconds." Now that's progress. ... If you have any unsolved problems around, bring them with you to Hanover this June and challenge General Electric. ... Like making five thousand do the work of ten. ...

Stan Calder checks in from the research department of Baker, Weeks, and Co., New York investment securities ' company. Stan told me last fall of his plans to enter investment banking from his former position as treasurer, Union Bag-Camp Paper. ... VanLloyd is the envy of Dartmouth men in purchasing a 150-year-old restored farmhouse in Thetford Center, Vt. Ginny and he will use the 45 acres for a summer place and have invited '43s to drive twelve miles from Hanover and visit them this June.

The pretty Christmas card from Gene and Bob Craig featuring pictures of the children Kiri, Tracy, Robert, and Danny remind me that the reunion is really a family affair. The committee has made excellent arrangements for dormitory space, baby sitters, children's activities. No reason for missing if you have two kids or ten. Hand them over to Jack Meleney on reaching town. ... One older Dartmouth man in Philly commented that Clanging Bells was the best written, most informative class newsletter coming out of Hanover. I told him I'd pass the kudos to Kelly Coffin, who really deserves it.
