Your peripatetic secretary writes this from San Juan, Puerto Rico, whose magnificent harbor distracts me from this job. LarryNoble, in state of shock when I called, recovered at lunch while we reminisced. An old hand on P.R. (he speaks Spanish fluently), Larry has some fourteen years here with U.S. Rubber and an asphalt firm, now operates a body and paint business. Body work is a thriving industry here, in case you've never driven on P.R. Larry looks very well behind his mustache, has four children and another expected, and was hungry for Dartmouth news. Very pleasant lunch.

Frank Lallande, known down here as Kirk Lallande, stopped at the hotel to visit Ruth and me, later made arrangements for us to dine at a lovely restaurant in Old San Juan. We brought him up-to-date on classmates he hasn't seen for years. Frank is manager, Caribe division, Caribe Motors Corp., tremendous General Motors distributor on the island. Dr. Jaime Font, with us freshman year, is a well-known eye-ear, etc. specialist. I called him Thursday, couldn't find him anywhere. Sad news that Jerry Von Wedel is hospitalized in San Juan's Veterans Hospital. Eight years ago Barbara and Jerry left his Greenwich surgical practice when his failing health demanded warmer climate. Jerry became professor of surgery at the Medical School, University of Puerto Rico until this past August when multiple sclerosis forced him into the hospital. Barbara reports him doing nicely. Most inspirational is the fact that Jerry has been doing experimental research on himself to find the cause and cure of this disease. Remember this next time you feel like complaining. Jerry and Barbara have two children, Randall, ten, and Diane, eight. I think it would be fine for all of us to drop Jerry a note.

Back to the states - Tom Kelby has been elected vice president, Security Bank and Trust Co., Owatonna, Minn., not far from the Twin Cities. Tom has been with the bank since 1947. Departing from the investment business, Bill Whitmarsh becomes Philadelphia sales representative for Laurence R, McCoy and Co., Inc., large lumber merchants. Bill will share the territory with Bill Barrett '44, their representative for fifteen years. John Goode is trying his fortune in a new venture - owning the Novice Inn, West Dover, Vt., one of the oldest and largest of 90 ski lodges in southern Vermont's Valley of the Inns. John has been with Fortune magazine for the last eight years.

Warner Willcox sold his real estate business in N.Y.C., and his home and with wife Rosamond, children Wendy, twelve, Winky, eleven, and Sandy, nine, moved aboard the 85-foot schooner yacht, Seadrift, to sail around the American, British, Dutch, and French West Indies while living aboard as home. Warner plans a round-the-world swing this spring, needs a crew to sail her. Dartmouth men will be welcome on a shore-expenses basis. Write: Warner Willcox, Yacht Seadrift, Yacht Haven, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; what a temptation, if I didn't have this mortgage.

Bus Mosbacher made a fine impression on The Hill School boys when George O'Day and he talked there in February. They drove through a wild blizzard to make it. Bus made an outstanding representative of Dartmouth on those impressionable youngsters. People like Bus help attract the best candidates for our college. Don't underestimate the effect of inspiration in these young people.

Paul Parker, a pretty good football manager, is now general manager, International Division, General Mills, headquartered in Minneapolis. With a law degree from the University of lowa, Paul practiced law in Des Moines for several years, served in the lowa House of Representatives, became executive assistant to lowa's governor. In 1956 he joined General Mills, took marketing and sales tours, and finally the top slot in their Canadian operation. Remarkable what DCAC training did for Paul, and our congratulations.

Bob Lappin is another who took his Dartmouth political activity to heart. He's been named associate chairman, 1963 Jewish Community Federation of Greater Lynn Annual Campaign, including Lynn, Lynnfield, Marblehead, Nahant, Saugus, and Swampscott. Remember the Lap's great Dartmouth political campaign?

Art Bucknan proves pioneering isn't dead. Moved from Connecticut to Ogden, Utah, as planning engineer from Thiodol Chemical Company. Wife Frances, daughter Burma, and Art find Utah just fine, all this and a goldfish pond personally stocked by Art with rainbow trout.

Bill Wilson has moved his surgical practice from Whitefield, N.H., to Gardner, Mass. Bill took his medical degree at Northwestern University, interned at Mary Hitchcock, Hanover, and after surgical residence at the VA hospitals in White River and Rutland, served as staff surgeon and Chief of Surgery at the Rutland Hospital. Bill is certified by the American Board of Surgery, holds numerous professional memberships. The Wilsons have two children.

Victor Morgan '44 (l), program officer for the Agency for International Development in Nepal, is shown with Nepalese officials, Under Secretary Trailokya ManShrestha and Acting Under Secretary for the Ministry of Economic Affairs PushkarNath Pant. Morgan, now in San Diego on home leave, has worked for two years onconcentrating U.S. aid on activities which will assist Nepal's economic growth.Since joining AID in 1950 he has had posts in Laos, Yugoslavia, Italy, and France.
