JUNE 1964 PETER M. STERN, WILLIAM I. RUSSELL 3RD

For this issue, the last of the year, I have more news than I've ever had for a column. There's only room for a brief reminder about the Alumni Fund Drive thoroughly explained in Skip's last Newsletter. And, keep writing of your plans and places over the summer so that we can keep track of everyone.

Pete Rotch checked in with news of the University of Chicago Law School group. He took a break from moot court preparation to tell me he intends to make it up to Hanover sometime this summer, as many of us intend to do. Frank Wohl and GeorgeBadenoch, mainstays of the college's championship debating team last year, are arguing their way through the Law School in the Windy City also, writes Pete. TimDrescher sent some news along to Pete also. Tim's on board the "USS Aludra" somewhere around Japan, anxious to get back on land and begin grad school in English. Dave Bowman is already in that field at Chicago's graduate school but finds time to do a little hooking with Pete. Jim McKeon responded to my call for more news on the Packer's last stand. Last month I wrote of Steve's engagement to Sandy Allen, a Conn College student whom Steve met at OCS in Newport. Packer is now aboard the "USS Wasp" sailing out of Boston and finds some liberty time to see his fiancee. Jim is attending the Cornell Business School along with his roommate B. T. Adams. Pete Cornish is also in the Ithaca Hills at the B School. Along with his news of Steve's July 14 marriage, Jim let us in on news that Bill Nolte is planning to marry Harriet Drake, a Smith grad, sometime this summer. From out in Omaha, Neb., Jim Cogswell wrote to keep us up to date on his med school activities and engagement plans. He's engaged to a Tucson girl, Kathy Hammond, who is now a junior at the University of Arizona. Cogs also had news of other 63's - Tige Harris, in Athens, Ga., serving with the Navy, and Dave Butler working somewhere in New York.

From newspapers, letters and announcements come engagement and marriage news: Mark Horwich, now at Dartmouth Med, to Andrea Rae Lewis, a student at Stanford. They plan a July wedding. Steve Cleary, in the Marines, to Patricia Raymond, a Connecticut girl. They also intend to be married this summer. Tuck School has another married student in Dean Edson. He'll be married on June 13 in New Canaan, Conn., to Barbara Fitzgerald. Two of Ripley Hall's charter members also are to be married shortly: Bill Wooley, who decided to take graduate retailing courses at NYU, will wed Judith Ann Brower in June, and Mike Bartels has announced his engagement and September wedding plans with Ellen Bargar. Mike is studying at Ohio State and Ellen attends Denison.

Dave Warr and Joan Munday have set their marriage plans in motion, while Dave continues graduate work at the University of Massachusetts. Lieutenant Rick Dickinson has announced his wedding plans — to Melanie Jamieson of Cocoa, Fla. Rick is stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, but intends to head for Florida and his wedding in June. Another June bride will be Sarah Hawkins. She'll wed Tuck School's Fred Jones as another '63 joins the ranks. June is going to be an unbelievable month for marriages. Here's another - Tom Mclnerny (who will start at Harvard Med in September) will marry Beverlyann Boudreau during that month. She's an x-ray technician who graduated from Mary Hitchcock last year. Just to break up the June wedding rut, Doug Clark has planned his wedding in the fall. His fiancee is Lucia Howell, an art student in Dayton. Doug is now serving with the Special Forces branch of the Army. Back to June and PaulMuenzer. Paul, down in the bluegrass country studying medicine at Kentucky, will wed Ann Lynne Grone on the 13th (a popular date). Ernie Torres also saw something special about June, this time the 20th. He'll be married to Jan Huff, a senior at Hunter College, on that date. I believe that Ernie plans to teach at Kent School this fall. Let us know, Ernie, will you?

Another summer wedding will be that of Howie Williams and Dawn Sangrey. I had heard that Howie was engaged but didn't have details until now. Dawn is a Holyoke alumna who is studying for her MAT at Johns Hopkins. Howie, a member of our class committee, is attending graduate school at Teachers College, Columbia while working in the City.

From Michigan Law School and JohnSharpe comes news of his engagement to Deborah Ann Lambert, a student at Western College for Women. I'm glad to see that someone else thinks that August is the month for weddings. John Newman, stationed at Pensacola plans his wedding sometime this spring. He'll wed Jane Gersbach, a Skids graduate and resident of Dansville, N. Y.

And Engagements: Tom Washing announced his engagement to Lou Ann Sawyer of Chappaqua, N. Y. She's attending school in New York City while Wash is booking law at Michigan. They plan a June wedding. Jim Friedman has become engaged to Ruth Aidlin, a senior at Northwestern. Jim is at Harvard Law (and if we get any more lawyers from the class of '63, I'll stop listing them); they intend to be married in early August. Steve Guthrie, now an ensign in the Navy, managed to escape from Pensacola long enough to become engaged to Carolyn Fritts, a Colby graduate. Carolyn's now working in Montclair, N. J. - her home town. And last but not least, for this month, Jack Stobo is engaged to Mary Ann Smith. Jack's studying medicine at UVM; his bride-to-be attended college in Vermont.

There is more news, but I'll call it a day here. I hope that my requests, Skip's information, and Bill's letters have moved all of you to contribute to this year's Alumni Fund. We're dead last in our Green Derby Division and there's absolutely no reason why we should stay there. To all of you who found a minute to drop me a line and fill me in on news of 63's all over the world, my sincere thanks. See you next fall as an old married man.
