The dinner meeting for President and Mrs. Dickey on April 9 was a resounding success with some sixty alumni, their wives, and guests turning out at International House - the largest alumni group ever gathered in Japan. President and Mrs. Dickey masterfully handled the dozens of Japanese names of people to whom they were introduced during their two-week stay here and the members of the association were duly impressed with their facility at Japanese pronunciation.
Kyosuka Fukuda '29 provided the entertainment during cocktails with girls from the Sogetsu Kaikan arranging flowers. MasuoIwanami '25A, club president, gave the toast to the health and happiness of our distinguished visitors and extended a warm welcome on behalf of the club.
Among our guests were Prof. DonaldBartlett '24, Prof. Wing Tsit Chan, and Chick Onodera '57s. Chick left this month for a three-year stay in Kuala Lumpur with his company, Mitsui Bussan Kaisha. Many people whom we haven't seen in a long time were on hand including Mrs. Takanaga Mitsui, wife of the late Takanaga Mitsui'15, Yukichi Fujiyama '38, George Adams'30, Coe Enbutsu '58, Toshio Hiroka '55,Emilio Lanier '24, Ryutaro Shindo '55, and '62's Tom Yasuda, Mike Parrish, TimDrescher, and Bill Shanahan. Also present were Rusty Cook '61, F. R. Drury '48,Wheatley Allen '63, and many others.
