Remember the fabulous 55th, June 13th There's still time to sign up.
This month there is some good news and some bad. Let's start with the bad.
Last October, Jane Lovejoy, widow of Sam Sr., died in a head-on collision in Branford, Conn., with her son Sam Jr. '57 and her daughter-in-law Pamela, a tragic loss for Dartmouth.
The good news is that Ray Theriault, widow of classmate George, has married Marcelis "Party" Parsons, a State Department retiree who had the good judgment to move to the Dartmouth area. Though not a graduate, he has been a "Green" by association, and now by marriage.
Warren Braley, of Chatham, N.Y., one of two '33 farmers, has been prominent in town affairs as judge, supervisor, and currently counselor, which latter position is being challenged by a young upstart, a Democrat, no less.
Harold Smith, organizer of the First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Waterbury, Conn., has decided to retire after 52 years of management, a remarkable record.
A true Dartmouth grandmother, LouiseMcCoy—wife of Byron, who died just before our 50th—reports from Rutland, Vt., that their son, Roger '60, is a structural engineer based in Cambridge, Mass., and grandson Christopher '87 is doing graduate work at M.I.T. Let's hope he will have a son who will graduate around 2012, to continue the Dartmouth connection and also make Louise a great-grandmother.
Ro Burbank had a successful repair of an abdominal aneurism, but unfortunately had a series of unrelated complications. Connie reports that he will continue to work on the 55th, and will also be there.
Dumps McCarthy, an almost half-century resident of Norwich, Vt., has moved to Virginia to be near his son, Bill '67.
Charlie Stege sent along a picture of his old room, 3 Crosby, and reminisced about undergraduate days and his old dormitory mates, including George Heidler and PageWorthington. He also mentioned the wonderful view of the White Church fire right across the street when it burned in 1932.
