Of first importance in this month's news is the announcement of the Annual Boston Tuck School Alumni Association Meeting on April 11 at the Harvard Club. All invited! A lot has transpired in Hanover and at Tuck this year and it should be an eye-opening evening for all Tuck men.
The class of 1926 leads off the news parade with respect to Tuck alumni. Richard G. Heydt, president of the First National Bank of Toledo, Ohio, has been recently elected to the board of Seway Foods, Inc. Also recently elected a director was James P. McFarland T'34 who was named to help direct the fortunes of the Toro Manufacturing Corporation. Jumping to the class of 1948, news has come to Tuck that Ellsworth Trowsdale has been recently named manager of marketing and sales administration for the Arrow Liqueurs Division of Heublein, Inc.
The Encyclopaedia Britannica Press, Inc. has announced that James H. Smith Jr. T'50 of White Plains, N. Y., has been named Assistant Division Manager to direct distribution of reference and teaching materials to schools and libraries on the eastern coast. Dwight Allison T'52 was recently named a vice president and director of Gardner Associates, Inc., a personal trust and investment management firm located in Boston.
Moving to the class of 1953, George Davis has been named controller of Thomas J. Lipton, Inc. and its subsidiary, Good Humor Corporation. The Gillette Company announced recently in Boston the election of Marcel C. Durot as president of the Sterilon Corporation, a hospital supplies division. And closer to home, the word is that RoyAbbott, recently of Chase Manhattan Bank, has just recently been elected senior vice president of Gulf & Western Industries, Inc. Roy, I understand, will be working basically in the area of acquisitions. Other news of interest to persons around the country: Robert L. Woodberry T'ss has been named to manage the Denver office of Dean Witter & Company; Richard Rosen T'57 recently received a very nice write-up in the New York World Telegram. He is now an aide to Mayor Lindsay in Albany. George L. Powell Jr. T'60 wrote a very nice note concerning his acceptance of a position with the Air Reduction Company as corporate planner. Until recently George was working for Mobil International.
Before turning to engagements and marriages I might mention having seen a few old friends in New York on a recent visit. I have been, I am told, very remiss in not mentioning much of interest to the class of 1965 and so a quick note on them. While in New York I saw Dick Enholm and TedMorehouse, both happy at Benton & Bowles, as well as John Bruno, the entrepreneur of the eating set on 45th Street, Dick Chase and Jeff Pitchford both quite happy at Morgan Guaranty and McKinsey & Company, respectively, and, of course, Bill Gunn who seemed to be running Time, Incorporated from his impressive office in the Time-Life Building. Incidentally, Bill and Marilyn are expecting their first child.
Winding up with news of marriages and engagements, Jeff Nothnagle T'64 and Miss Helen Comins O'Connor were married recently. Another member of the class of '64, Chuck Wessendorf has married Miss Kathleen Durham. Robert Andrew of Manchester has announced his engagement to Miss Janet Lindsay Vance of Cape May Court House, N. J. Bob was with the class of '63. AllanKarcher T's2 recently married Miss Mary Allen in New York City. Al is director of sales development for the Recordak Corporation.
