Ed Healey '18, the only former Dartmouth player now in the National Football League Hall of Fame, was honored in Hanover last month. At a luncheon at the Tom Dent Cabin on November 12, a bronze bust of Healey, who was an All-Pro tackle with the Chicago Bears for five years in the 1920'5, was accepted for the College by Vice President Orton H. Hicks '21. The bust, duplicate of one in the NFL Hall of Fame, shows him in his playing days.
Healey was inducted into the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, in September 1964. At Dartmouth he played end under Coach Frank Cavanaugh and later Coach Doc Spears. George Halas acquired him from the Rock Island pro team and made him a tackle. After his football days, Healey became vice president of the France Stone Co. in South Bend, Ind. Now retired, he lives in Niles, Mich.
