The class of 1905, Florida winter visitors, held what sounds like a delightful reunion at Clearwater Beach Hotel, February 19. Present were nine individuals, five men and four women, all the '05ers in the area at the time: John and Lucy Bell, Roger andJane Brown, Dick and Mabel Tolman, also Fred Chase, C. C. Hills and Bea MacMillan. It was particularly pleasant that Bea could join the group. She had flown down for a visit with her older sister, Mrs. Ross, at the Mira Mar Hotel in Sarasota.
I might add that Mildred and I would have liked to have been there, especially as we had such a pleasant visit in December with several of that group at Clearwater Beach.
Already the time for the return north of those southern sojourners begins to peer over the horizon. C.C., for instance, was to return to Miami for a further visit with his daughter and was planning to reach Norwich in early April.
Of other travelers I have little word except for a card from Hilda and Cy White. They were "basking in the sun" at Ghost Ranch Lodge, Tucson, Ariz., where they were to stay till March 15 and then to proceed to California.
A good note came from Stanley Besse, but he is saddened by the death of a lifetime friend here in Montclair, and the incapacity of this friend's sister. Tub used to come out and visit them now and again. This is an indication of the loneliness that is the penalty for living beyond the four score year mark.
In a more cheerful vein is the news that the plans for the celebration of our 60th are progressing satisfactorily. Huston Lillard started early and has continued faithfully making sure that we can be comfortably housed in Hanover. Lil's latest word is that fifteen rooms will be reserved for us at the Hanover Inn. To quote from his recent letter to Miss Carey at the Inn, "We hope to have at least 21 rooms occupied, counting our faithful widows, but the latest to sign will have to overflow into Gile Hall. That is understood."
Your Executive Board is cooperating on our other projects: the issuance of an up-to-date directory; the arrangements for our Memorial Service, as reported earlier, conducted by Bob Falconer and assisted at the organ by Ned Estes, and supplementary statements by our membership to complete the "profiles" which were published in our 50 year book.
For this last item we shall require the prompt cooperation of each of you. S. B.Cunningham will have in your hands early in March suggestions as to your part in this project.
Move over, you great-grandparents, make room for your Scribe who became one of you on March 2! Scott William Coleman was born to Ist Lieutenant and Mrs. Larry Coleman at Cherry Point, N. C. Mrs. Larry was Suzanne Butterworth, daughter of Anne Putnam.
