Dartmouth's Class of 1915 produced two men who went to Hollywood to become film producers of importance. One was Walter Wanger '15, whose films were screened by the Dartmouth Film Society in 1962, and the other was Arthur Hornblow Jr. '15, who has just been given a two-term retrospective by the Society.
Of the 36 films that Mr. Hornblow produced, eight were shown as the major part of the fall series, and five more were shown in the winter series. These included Ruggles of Red Gap, The Pursuit of Happiness, Mississippi with W. C. Fields, High Wide and Handsome, Midnight, Arise My Love, The Cat and theCanary, Hold Back the Dawn, The Major and the Minor, Gaslight, The Hucksters, Witness for the Prosecution, and Oklahoma.
Mr. Hornblow was assistant producer to Samuel Goldwyn, and then was with Paramount from 1933 until 1942, during the golden age of that studio.
