With March blustering out with a freezing temperature, as I write, we can imagine that those of you who are home from Florida are sighing for the warmer airs they have left.
Just who are already back now I am not sure, except for the following: C.C. Hills is at home in Norwich, and Roger and JaneBrown are safe in West Medford. They tried to call on us March 31 on their return trip, but unfortunately Mildred and I were out. I had a telephone conversation with Roger the following evening. Claraand "Camp" Campbell likewise are home trying to catch up on their correspondence. They spent twelve weeks visiting their daughter and family at Hawaii. You will find an interesting account of their doings out there in Camp's "Profile" when it reaches you.
Cy and Hilda White do not expect to be back in Falmouth Foreside till near the middle of April. They have been on a somewhat extended trip to the Far West. The latest word was from Tucson, a second visit, enjoying the climate and a beautiful cactus garden just coming into bloom. They had been to California: San Diego, Laguna Beach and Mirada, where they visited their son Richard. April 1 they were to be for ten days in Evanston with daughter Margaret; whence home.
Presumably Huston and Ethel Lillard are back in Cohasset; a message sent from Clearwater Beach stated that they were leaving Florida March 22, when they were to move north for a week in Washington with their daughter Jane.
Shall we go back to Florida for a bit? Two Dartmouth events occurred in March. The first took place at the St. Petersburg Yacht Clnb. It was a luncheon with some 90 Dartmouth men and women present. Bob Blackman, our highly esteemed football coach, was the guest of honor. It is of interest to us of 'O5 that the man who managed this pleasant affair is Bob Atwood '42, son of our late "Jake" Atwood. Incidentally, Jake was a Sigma Chi man, as is Bob Blackman. In attendance from 'O5: Jane andRoger Brown (also Sigma Chi) and Bea MacMillan.
The second event, also a luncheon, was held at the Clearwater Beach Hotel on March 12. This was a strictly '05 affair, apparently a happy occasion. It was very pleasant that Bill Blatner brought his charming wife, Dorothy, and that Bea MacMillan could be on hand. Others present: Lucy andJohn Bell, Jane and Roger Brown, FredChase, C.C. Hills, Ethel and Huston Lillard,Amy and Leon Smith and Mabel and DickTolman.
Report of progress on the 60th: Everything moving nicely, but we need more Profiles. Have you sent in yours? And made your reservation?
