The northward trek of our '05 men from Florida is on the way. "Cy" and Hilda White left April 2 for Evanston where they will visit their daughter Margaret for two weeks, Then they will return to their pleasantly situated home on Casco Bay. Likewise on APril 2 Roger and Jane Brown were on their way north. Roger gave me a call by phone from some spot in the vicinity of Montclair and brought me up to date on Floridian 05ers.
First was an account of the '05 reunion at Clearwater Beach Hotel, February 26. That spot is chosen each year for this event because of the fact that so many of our Class are in that general vicinity. Indeed, Fred Chase and the Bells are virtually within stone's throw and the Blatners also, while C.C. Hills, the Leon Smiths, and the Browns are all within easy driving distance. It was Roger who made the arrangements for this pleasant affair. It was good that Bill Blatner was able to join the group after the setback to his health.
In the matter of recoveries, we are happy to know that "C.C." has recovered satisfactorily from the operation which hospitalized him for a time in March. He presumably will have left Florida well before this column appears in print. The general report as to the health of our '05 folk is good.
Two events occurred which were attended by some of our Class: a meeting of the Sarasota Rotary Club in February, attended by Leon Smith, Roger Brown, and C.C.Hills, all three Rotarians of long standing; the second, a Dartmouth Glee Club performance, which, I'm certain, gave great nostalgic pleasure to all the Dartmouth men who attended.
Two doyens of the world of music: '08'sGreat Artist Manager Ronald Chesley,86, with Pianist Artur Rubinstein, age 82.
