Just read Tom Mauro's outstanding Class Newsletter and would like to add just one thought: There is no better time to let the College know of your most recent address than to send it along with your contribution to the Alumni Fund. In the Newsletter, Ken Kolb pointed out that he and most other '61's would like to have an up-to-date listing of current addresses of the whole membership of our stellar group. Let me make a proposal — we will send such a list to all you '61's (at personal expense if necessary) IF we make our goal of $8,000 in this year's drive. If you (yes, you out there) make sure, absolutely sure, that your address is correct by putting it on the envelope containing your contribution I can assure you that our friends at the Alumni Records Office will record your present whereabouts and the proper address will be sent to all your classmates at least 14 of whom (according to the pleas for addresses we receive every month) have been trying desperately to contact you. Don't let the College down - they really need your contribution. The alumni who proceeded you in in college made your education possible, let's make sure we offer the same privilege to the young men coming along now. The drive closes June 30.
NEWS OF THE CLASS IN REVIEWDEPT.: Dan Reith has joined the law firm of Thompson and Hubbard in Monterey, Calif. The one and only "Duck," officially known as F. J. Eicke wrote one of his typically informative and interesting letters this month. Duck is down in New Orleans teaching History and Geography and will be attending summer school to work towards his Master's degree. You will remember that Duck and the Mrs. were in Thailand for just years with the Air Force and they seem rather pleased to be once again swinging in civilian New Orleans society.
Another gallant soul who seems to have been in the military for about 1000 years is Bill Blue. Bill is in Norfolk with the Submarine Force and has his own 15 minute sports show every Sunday night over WAVY-TV. Bill reports that the Norfolk branch of the Dartmouth Club sponsored the Glee Club in their annual tour, had a very successful showing down there and was working with Pete Blyler and StevePower on organizing the show. Both Pete and Steve are teaching nautical subjects in the local Navy schools.
Steve Bosworth has just been promoted in the Foreign Service to the grade of FSO-6. Steve's promotion was approved by President Johnson himself. Steve and his wife Sandra have spent time in Panama and are currently in Washington where Steve is acting officer in charge of Panamanian affairs for the State Department. Sounds like a very responsible and important position for the "Bos."
ASTONISHING NEWS DEPARTMENT: For the last four years I have been duly reporting on the multitudes of engagements and weddings taking place among our once steadfastly celibate brotherhood. And at times, I must admit, a certain degree of cynicism crept into my comments about the flagging individualism and waning self-confidence of the gay young bachelors who submitted to the ball and chain club. Well troops, I can no longer tongue-in-cheek you to death about marriage for I too have decided that it's the only way to life. I became engaged early this month to a truly grand young lady named Rita Blaine. Rita will become Mrs. Heathcote this December 30 and you're all invited to the wedding. Rita is from Cincinnati and is just exactly the girl I'd like to have at my side for this reunion and all the rest of them.
Have a wonderful summer, don't forget the Alumni Fund and please let the Class know how you're faring by sending me a letter. Aloha.
