On April 24 the students held their annual party for the faculty. Associate Dean Nice and your correspondent are still reviewing our behavior at previous similar occasions to try to determine if there is any significance in the fact that the students scheduled it while we were out of town!
We can now give you a final report on the work of the Admissions Committee. Barring acts of God or other unforeseen circumstances, the roster of the 1965 fall entering class is complete. Other than Dartmouth, fourteen colleges or universities are scheduled to be represented: Boston University, Bowdoin, Colby, Fairfield, Johns Hopkins, Harvard, Holy Cross, Massachusetts, Middlebury, Princeton, Radcliffe, Vermont, Wesleyan, and Yale. This class was selected from a group which provided 15 completed applications for each available opening.
Incidental Intelligence - Allen Locke M'19 keeps busy as consultant at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and as Chief of Medicine at the Glover Memorial in Needham. .. . John Lilly M'40, who holds an NIH Research Career Award, returned home to DMS to deliver lectures on his research with the Bottle-Nosed Dolphin.... A quote from the press, "Featured speaker is the eminent psychiatrist, Dr. Charles A. Pinderhughes," should bring pride to M'41ers.
Dick Kearsley M'50, an associate in pediatrics at Harvard and Chief of the Child Behavior Unit at MGH, is becoming famous for his speech on "The Role of the Pediatrician in the Education of the Child.". .. Herb Muller M'53 has been awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service as chief of hospital services at Tyndall AFB in Florida. . . . John Moran M'55, now doing research in Boston, will leave for England to work in thoracic surgery in July. . . . Don Dillon M'57 (Major Dillon to you) leaves West Point in August to go to the Walter Reed for a year in hematology.
We have seen the report m two papers of the engagement of Don Bartlett M'61 to Catherine LaPointe, a med. tech. graduate here, of Westbrook, Maine. .. . And the bells will ring on June 13 for the wedding of Jerry Bart M'61 and Sandra Seibel, R.N., of Orchard Park, N. Y We finally discovered that the lady skier, who has agreed to put up with Pat McLaughlin M' 63 beginning this June, is Milbrey Keith Wallin.
