DECEMBER 1965 HARRY W. SAVAGE M' 27

The Frederic P. Lord Appreciation Day, observed at the meeting of the Nathan Smith Medical Society on October 16, was strictly a success. When he was presented the book containing more than 185 letters from his former students, he was accorded a standing ovation lasting several minutes. Again, after he concluded his very appropriate humorous and typical Lordesque remarks, the audience again came to its feet with applause. Adding to the pleasure of the occasion was the presence of Mrs. Lord who "sneaked" into the back of Kellogg Auditorium for the ceremony. We are sorry for those of you who missed it, but the next Dartmouth Medical Quarterly will carry a detailed story.

Among other things which came out of the meeting was the appointment by the Executive Committee of a sub-committee consisting of Doctors F. P. Lord and Jack Bowler to promote a memorial of the site of Old Medical on the hill. Definite plans have been formulated already, and details will be forthcoming to you all in the near future.

With one month to go before the closing deadline we are already over the 550 mark in completed applications, and have interviewed some 150 applicants for the 1966 fall entering class. Since inquiries and requests for forms now total more than 1300, it is almost safe to assume that we will go well over the 700 mark in completed applications. If you are interested in promoting some candidate, do it now!
