Edmund R. Senghas '47 (r), secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Bergen County, was honored as the Club Secretary of the Year at the annual meeting in Hanover, September 24. J. Michael McGean '49 (1), Secretary of the College, read the following citation:
Ed Senghas, you are one of those who labor without ceasing that Dartmouth may be strong today and stronger tomorrow.
You served as Trustee of the Dartmouth Club of Bergen County from 1959 until 1963 at which time your fellow club members had the wisdom to elect you Secretary. Your detailed reports of monthly board meetings attest to the fact that your Dartmouth Club has a year-round, ongoing purpose and program.
As Secretary of a most active club your duties are many. Your club supports a scholarship fund and plays a vital part in local enrollment activities. A book award program, sponsorship of a luncheon for guidance counselors, and an annual reception for prospects are all part of the club program. To round out the calendar there is an annual fall smoker and a spring dance.
You also serve Dartmouth as a member of the Class of 1947 Executive Committee and Reunion Chairman for your class next June. Of course, you find time for other community projects such as Cub Master and superintendent of your Church Sunday School. When your extracurricular activities permit, you earn a livelihood as manager of the Uniform Fabrics Department of the J. P. Stevens Company.
In tribute to one who gives so much time for Dartmouth with such satisfactory results we are pleased to recognize you as Club Secretary of the Year.
