New Record for
JULY 1966

For the third year in a row, a new record in 25-year giving has been established by the 25th reunion class. At its banquet in Alumni Hall on Saturday, June 18, the Class of 1941 presented the College with a "check" in the amount of $686,541 which represented the aggregate contributions of classmates, parents, and friends of the Class of 1941 since the class graduated in June 1941. This sum broke the previous record of $656,000 set just last year by the Class of 1940.

Starting their drive in March 1964, just 27 months before their reunion, with a foundation total of $431,703 (Alumni Fund gifts, Capital Campaign contributions, parents' gifts, and other donations to special areas since graduation), the Class raised $254,838 in this period to go well beyond their goal, originally set at $600,000. In so doing, they not only broke the record set by 1940 but also established a new mark for contributions during the campaign period.

The fund drive was directed by Co-chairmen Bruce Friedlich, Edward Larner, and Daniel Provost, with able assistance from Class Chairman Lewis K. Johnstone and a dedicated team of Executive Committee members and agents.

The class and its leaders were saluted in a resolution passed June 17 by the Dartmouth Alumni Council, which "heartily congratulated" them and pointed out that the leaders in the entire class membership "have earned the grateful thanks of the Alumni Council and the College for this magnificent achievement."
