Summer School ended with exams on August 18. Margaret and I were off for Duxbury (Mass.) where we enjoyed sailing, sight-seeing with Norma and Red Maloney and others; we also spent a pleasant evening at the home of Pete and Alma Wheatley ... then off to Maine for the month of September to relax before joining you-all at the Holy Cross weekend. ... Meanwhile, a change has been made in our birthday cards; for a while, at least. Comments, either kind, appreciated. We think them fine; what about you - and you? The picture is true-to-life. (Speaking of pictures: looking out on a pond here in Blue Hill, Me., just saw eight loons putting on a fabulous show - constant calls as they circled wide and separately, running on the water much of the 3-4-5 minutes. Wonder if it was a training session for the new brood?)

Retirement brings many new ventures: the Doug Craigs in point. He is continuing a relationship as consultant to the United Presbyterian Church as an actuary to advise regarding operation of a pension fund and related benefits for ministers and other employees; now another hat connected with pension plans and operation of their churches in many countries. They leave for an assignment in Guatemala the end of September for two weeks and then to Colombia for the same time. So they will miss the fall reunion; get back about time to start the 1968 plans for another very good job for our class on the Alumni Fund. Cheers again - and again.

Wedding bells: Peter Coyle, son of our Dr. John Coyle and the late Alma B. Coyle, was married to Maria Kristin Helm, on August 5, in Ann Arbor, Mich. Best man was brother Jonathan Coyle. An additional happy note is that Peter received his Ph.D. degree at his graduation: is also an instructor in Anatomy in the School of Medicine after earning his M.S. degree there. His A.B. degree was from University of Vermont. Mrs. Coyle graduated from Michigan and is a laboratory technician at the medical school. Our congratulations to all, including Michigan.

Otis Jackson is leaving Laramie, Wyo. (as Dean of the Episcopal Cathedral there) to become Director of Pastoral Work at All Saints Church, Pasadena. And so, forty years after his start as assistant at St. Paul's in Chicago, he celebrates his retirement by finding new and challenging work. He is in good company with classmates doing likewise. There is a history of service covering many years in several states and churches.

More tid-bits, each of which contains a longer story: Stu Eldredge conducted drawing classes at the Southern Vermont Art Center during the 1967 Study Programs in the Arts in Manchester, Vt., for most of July and August two mornings a week ... open to all, beginners to professionals who needed to sharpen their draughtsmanship. ... Hubert, son of Dr. Leslie and MildredSycamore of Hanover, is now Assistant Director of New England Deaconess Hospital (Boston), following other posts there since 1961. His responsibilities include, also, development of the unit coordinator program and administration coordination of the building program. Like his father, now retiring, he is a specialist.

More medical and wedding notes: DocChristophe, on May 6, was presented the Distinguished Alumnus Award at the annual meeting of the Alumni Association of Boston University School of Medicine. He was Clinical Professor of Orthopedic and Fracture Surgery, chairman of the department, and also chief of the service. He had earned his M.D. in 1928, and served on the faculty of the school and the University Hospital staff since 1930. He was a familiar figure in Hanover when he traveled with BU teams as their physician The wedding of the son of another '24 shining light occurred on July 22 at Pacific Palisades, Calif. The Frank Harringtons flew out to the wedding of their son, George, to Diantha D. Cushman. The bride was graduated from St. Lawrence University, took her LL.B. from Cornell, and has been a lawyer with James M. Barrie law firm in Los Angeles. George graduated from Exeter, 1957; Dartmouth in 1961; he served in the Army in the language school in Monterey and in Germany. He also has his LL.B. from Cornell and joins the Boston law firm of Hutchins & Wheeler. Congratulations to all those nice people.

Retiring Joe Burleigh, brother of Nat, secretary of '11, was feted this June at commencement exercises at Franklin (N. H.) High School where he has recently been principal but served as teacher ... 32 years of service in all. And now he's busy overseeing Rotarians in a wide area. The testimonials were on a happy and (appropriately, for Joe has a sharp sense of humor) in a light manner. A big assist goes to Alice.
