Record Scholarship Aid
OCTOBER 1967

The percentage of freshmen getting scholarships from the College this fall - about 32% —is a record by a decided margin. The figure in recent years has been around 27 or 28%, and even without the lower attrition of admitted '71s over the summer, that level of scholarship aid would have been exceeded. Another 6% of the Freshmen are getting long-term loans from the College, raising to 38% the proportion of the class receiving direct financial aid.

Dartmouth's tuition has gone up $150 this year, from $1925 to $2075; dormitory room rents, which average $400, have increased about $25; and freshman Board at Thayer Hall has gone up $60, from $550 to $610. Not counting travel, $3500 a year is about the minimum cost for the student not on scholarship.
