Fall-term enrollment in the undergraduate College of Arts and Sciences is 3146, an increase of 34 over list fall but four less than the record figure of two years ago. The growth of study programs away from Hanover is indicated by the 115 undergraduates who are in absentia this term, mostly in foreign lands. Undergraduates actually in residence number 3031.

The addition of 582 graduate students, 479 full-time and .103 part-time, raises Dartmouth's overall enrollment to 3728, an increase of 70 over last fall and of 275 over the comparable total three years ago. Tuck School has an enrollment of 228, Medical School 166, and Thayer School 75. The once sizable enrollment of undergraduate seniors in the first-year courses of the associated schools has now shrunk to seven at the Medical School and 14 at Tuck.
