Ever since last summer, each edition of the Class Notes has closed with a plea to send your Secretary something to keep him in business for the ensuing months. These requests have been spectacularly unproductive. Perhaps you don't read clear to the end. Accordingly, I am opening this month's edition with a special request for news-any kind of news - concerning activities of classmates.

"The New York Times" on Sunday, January 29, had a special supplement devoted entirely to the American Heart Association. There were a number of informative and interesting articles dealing with various phases of heart disease, its cause and its prevention. Among them was one entitled "Rheumatic Fever" by Dr. Gene Stollerman who is Professor of Medicine at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. The magazine also listed the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association and the Class was well represented by Warner Bishop in Cleveland, Ohio and Gene Stollerman in Memphis, Tenn.

Simultaneously with the appearance of the above magazine, the New Hampshire press carried announcements of the kickoff dinner of the New Hampshire Heart Fund drive. Featured prominently in these articles (without his trombone) was Dr. Bob Rainie, who is President of the New Hampshire Heart Association.

Bruce Friedlich called to say that BobThomas had agreed to accept the position as Class Agent for the 1967 Alumni Fund drive. As this is being written, no further information has been forthcoming with respect to the drive or Bob's plans for organizing 1941's participation in it. Certainly by the time the next issue of the notes are written, you all will have received additional information from Bob and his assistant Class Agents. It should be remembered that the Class has quite a reputation to live up to as a result of the record it set with its twenty-five-year gift last June, and I am sure that the College and the officers of the Alumni Fund are expecting big things of us this year. I hope you will bear this in mind when you sit down to reply to the fund solicitation from Bob and his assistants.

Pioneer Newspapers, Inc. announced in November the appointment of George Cruze as Director of Publications for the company's 21 suburban community newspapers in the Chicago area. George, who formerly managed the operation of the company's western suburban publications, succeeded Pioneer's president William H. Over in the director's post. After graduation George began his career in newspaper publishing with the "Philadelphia Evening Bulletin." After service in World War II, he was employed as manager of retail advertising for the Tarentum, Pa., "Valley Daily News." He was then general advertising representative for the "Indianapolis Times" of the ScrippsHoward chain, after which he moved to the position of advertising director of the Burlington, Vt., "Free Press," an assignment he held until joining Pioneer three years ago. George is married to the former Ruth Hoffer. They have three children: George III, 19; Eleanor, 17; and Barbara Ann, 11.

New addresses recently received are as follows: David Chittim, 90 Wenonah Road, Longmeadow, Mass. 01106; James W. Costello Jr., 160 Prospect Street, East Orange, N. J. 07107; Charles P. Hadley, 1953 Drexel Avenue, Lancaster, Pa. 17602; William L. Lee, 1200 Van Buren Street, South, Amarillo, Texas 79101; Richard B. Wheeler, 1165 Delaware, Denver, Colo. 80204.

That's all, and I do mean ALL for this month. Now please go back and read the first paragraph again.
