The New York Times carried an article which states that Alvin F. Buchanan has been made Advertising Manager for the footwear and general products division of the U. S. Rubber Company—effective January 1. He will handle Keds, Kedettes, water-proof footwear and clothing, Koyton Foam, Royalite plastics and other products. Al has been with the company 26 years, so must have gone there when he left College in junior year. I haven't heard from or about Al since that time but do remember that he prepared for Dartmouth at the Drum Hill High School in Peekskill, N. Y., and roomed at 42 Middle Mass freshman year. Others in allied lines are JohnnyGarrod, chief chemist of Hood Rubber, who makes frequent trips to the parent company in Akron, and Ralph Tucker, sales manager of the new plastics division of Dewey and Almy Chemical Company.

Ralph Shineman is now back in the New York office of the New York Central Railroad as an Assistant to the Vice President of Traffic. Ralph made a great record in the Transportation Corps during the war. He remained in Austria for several years after the war as Transportation and Communications Officer in Mark Clark's Army. His function was to run the railroads of Austria. Unfortunately, he must have worked too hard, as he had some hospitalization on his return to this country, and then took a long rest before returning to civilian work. He is back in good form, my informant advises me.

Ben Bowden's son has been elected assistant manager of basketball. He originally was on the squad, but decided to try for this instead. Ben and Kay drove down to the Yale game, got thoroughly soaked, but in spite of all the inconveniences Ben said it was one of the best games he had seen in the entire series. Sandy Bjorkman, Hank's son, started at quarterback for Exeter against Andover along with two sons of famous stars in Hank's time. The fathers were Win Lovejoy of Yale and Dolph Cheek of Harvard.

Ford and Gert Whelden's attractive daughter Roxanne is engaged to Edward Kenneth Isbey Jr. of Grosse Pointe, Mich. Ed was one of Dartmouth's finest backs a year ago last fall. Roxanne attended Dana Hall, Smith 1950, and studied in Geneva in her junior year.

The George Spragues and Dr. Eddie Ober were recent guests at the Hanover Inn. Eddie's daughter Ann Catherine was married last fall to John Sebastian Frey in Corning, N. Y.

Last year Don and Dot Hunt's daughter Barbara Ann was married to John Peirson of Montreal, star forward on the Boston Bruins professional hockey team. Among the wedding guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Burns, GeorgeNewman, Woody Wilson and George Chamberlain. Don is making his semi-annual twoweek pilgrimage to Grand Rapids for the furniture convention. Don owns the Shaw Furniture Company in Cambridge, one of the oldest makers of high grade furniture in the country. Now Don and Dot s second oldest daughter of three is honeymooning in the Virgin Islands, having married Carroll Swezey Jr. '50, whose father was class of 1920. They will settle in Patchogue, N. Y.

Jack and Elbra Davis spent about ten days over New Year's at the Breakers in Palm Beach, Fla. Jock Packard, whose address changes semi-annually, has moved to winter quarters managing The Royal Park Inn at Vero Beach, Fla. In the summer season Jock runs the famous Toy Town Tavern in Winchendon, Mass.—both are in the Treadway chain.
