From your correspondent's newly acquired vantage point in billet (c) Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, Calif., a diagonal slash across the map from Hanover, legal aspects of the Marine Corps Reserve Program, especially those pertaining to discharges, have taken on paramount importance. This column will be dedicated, therefore, to those gallant classmates preparing for the bar who will hopefully uphold both the letter and spirit and make sure your secretary can don civies in December when his hitch is up.

The long hot summer of 1968 found many a change of venue among the ranks of the Class of 1966.

Graduating first in his class was former football manager, Russ Kulp, who received a master's degree in City Planning from the Graduate School of Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania. Russ, who worked as an intern for the Planning Commission of Delaware County, Pa., plans to enter the Navy.

The honor of presenting the graduate speech, representing the Harvard Law School at the June Commencement, was accorded Richard Tufaro, who was awarded the LL.B. degree, cum laude. Before entering the law profession, Rick will serve as 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve at Aberdeen, Md.

Law student Dick Krans, completing two years of a three-year law course at the University of Miami Law School has worked this summer with the Legal Services Program, which provides legal services for those unable to acquire private counsel.

Several future lawyers are combining their last year of studies with new brides at their sides.

Cambridge, Mass., will be the residence of Bob Nash and the former Roberta Spector, University of Illinois, while the bridegroom completes his studies at Harvard University Law School. Across the river at Boston University School of Law, Steve Samaha has acquired a new roommate on June 8 at Hanover, N. H. Sarah Winship, a graduate from Colby Junior College, is the lucky girl. Serving as best man was Bob Buckley and Alan MacDonald, Dick Krans, and CharlieStuart were ushers.

Two months later, on August 3 in West Hartford, Conn., Samaha acted as Bob's best man, when Buckley, also a third-year man at Boston Law School, was married to Linda Walker, a Colby Junior College alumna. Tim Paige and John LaSalle witnessed the ceremony.

After a stint in the Navy and with a first mate in tow in the person of Mary Supple (College of New Rochelle), who promised to obey on July 1 at Wrentham, Mass., EdDailey will embark as a first-year man at Boston University School of Law.

More future barristers reporting marriages are George Marks, a student at Dickinson Law School, who ankled down the aisle with Marjean Angier, a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, on July 27 at Wellesley, Mass. At the University of Illinois, JohnBoies will enter his last year of law studies with a new wife, the former Mary Glynn, a graduate of Southern Illinois and of the University of Illinois with master degree in Art Education. John and Mary joined hands on August 16 at Alton. Ill.

Your secretary attended the nuptials that united Budge Gere and Anne Carol Ruggles on June 15 at Princeton, N. J. Chuck Vernon was best man and '66 was well represented by the presence of Bob Buckley, TomClarke, Dick Larson, Mike Urbanic, and Chuck Horn. On August 17, at Mantoloking, N. J., Chuck Vernon, who is pursuing graduate work in physical education at Spring-field (Mass.) College, was the groom at his wedding with the former Jamie Gardner, Mt. Holyoke '68.

Army Lts. Paul Buffum and Bob Cleary were ushers at the marriage of Karl Andrews and Juliette Willis, Skidmore College at Louisville, Ky., on June 8. Karl then served as best man for Paul, when he was married on June 22 at Little Compton, R. I., to Elisabeth Reyelt, another Skidmore Col- lege graduate. Bob and Chris Miller attended the couple, who will live in Fort Campbell, Ky.

From California comes word that MikeMasin was elected to the Board of Editors of the U.C.L.A. Law Review in the capacity of Articles Editor. Further word from the Golden State is that Ken Berger and Deborah Brayton, a student at Pasadena City College, were married on April 6 in San Marino, Calif. Ken, who had done some graduate work at the University of California has entered the U.S. Army.

Another legal note - Paul Semple has been elected secretary-treasurer of the Student Board of Public Defenders and Legal Assistants of the University of Connecticut School of Law. And it is now Ist Lt. BrucePetrie of the U.S. Army Infantry and he is stationed in Korea.

Ed Bash '67 (l) and Mike Hollnagel '67have been commissioned 2nd lieutenantsin the Air Force upon graduation fromOTS at Lackland AFB, Texas. Ed isnow at Scott AFB, Ill., for duty with theMilitary Airlift Command and Mike is atLaughlin AFB, Texas, for pilot training.
