The Dartmouth Club of Bangkok, Thailand reconvened in February, 1968 after a hiatus of activity running almost two years. The most widespread, observable reaction among the gathered alumni was delighted amazement at how many Dartmouth affiliates there turned out to be at this far end of the girdled earth. Site of the meeting was a fine Chinese restaurant; setting was a seven- (or, was it nine-?) course luncheon. Before the second round of scotches was downed and the hors d'oeuvres and' sharks fin soup had settled, the Club completed the installation of new officers, who are: President emeritus, Phya Montri Donavanik '22; president, M. C. Dinajat Suriyong '41; vice president, Prasong Sukhum '53; secretary, Bob Brodkey '62; and, treasurer, Nit Pibulsonggram '62. Fortunately, Dave Schorer'62,Chuck Applegate '63, and Bob Black '32 had learned about the event through the grapevine or from a social-page announcement in the "Bangkok Post" or "Bangkok World" and also attended. Since that first meeting, personal contacts and occasional local publicity have brought to light about another seven Bangkok Hanoverians, including (Mrs.) Margery Myers, nee Gruen, Bangkok's first-known Dartmouth woman (Dartmouth Medical School '67), daughter of Ed Gruen '31 and related to many other Dartmouth men as well.
The members of the Club do want interested Dartmouth affiliates who happen to be passing through Bangkok to feel welcome to join our monthly fetes (normally held on the first Monday of the month). To establish contact with the local alumni, by mail or telephone, we offer the following: Robert M. Brodkey '62, see address above, tel. 37882 (and for correspondence sent from the U.S.: OSD/ARPA Research and Development Center, APO San Francisco, Calif. 96346); Nitya Pibulsonggram '62, 8 Chitlom Lane.
