A four-man team of Dartmouth undergraduates will represent the College on NBC television March 31, in the well-known College Bowl competition. Dartmouth's participation was originally scheduled for March 17 and then delayed two weeks.
Named to the team are Peter Baylor '68, Gary N. Horlick '68, Frederick Meier '7O, and John Tallmadge '69. Michael J. Reynolds '64 is first alternate and Robert M. McNair '69, second alternate. They were chosen from the two finalist teams by two faculty coaches and advisers, Prof. Alan T. Gaylord and Prof. Chauncy C. Loomis Jr., both of the Department of English.
Selection of the Dartmouth team has been going on this term by means of a series of All-College Quiz matches, sponsored by The Dartmouth and Station WDCR. The victorious team in the AllCollege Quiz was composed of Joseph Grasso '68, Horlick, Reynolds, and Tallmadge who defeated the team of Baylor, Robert Lumbert '70, McNair and Meier.
Dartmouth appeared on the College Bowl program once before, in 1960, and at that time had three straight wins over Williams, Bryn Mawr, and Rice before being eliminated by New York University. Four wins was the maximum allowed then. In the current series, a successful team can remain in the competition five straight weeks.
