While the rest of the College was on vacation, the Dartmouth Players remained in town to give three special performances of Shakespeare's Comedy ofErrors for junior high and high school students on March 25 and 26. Busloads of students from schools in the surrounding communities arrived in town to take advantage of the 75-cent bargain.
The Players' production had a cast of 25, costumed by Alicia Annas and playing in Bruce McMullan's specially designed Elizabethan stage setting. After each performance students had a chance to meet and talk with the actors, in costume, as part of a behind-the-scenes tour. There were also make-up demonstrations in the Studio Theater and tours of the costume-design studios, dressing rooms, and scenery and stage workshops. There were lobby displays of Miss Annas' original costume sketches, Elizabethan and other theater models, and exhibits dealing with The World of William Shakespeare.
As part of their regular season, The Players will give The Comedy of Errors from May 29 through June 1.
