JUNE 1968 PHILIP K. MURDOCK, HAROLD H. LOUNSBERRY

While June is quite a stretch from March, George Ingalls reported that March skiing was still excellent up in the high country, although Boulder and the foothills of Colorado were bare most of the winter. As for skiing, George says he's given up that pastime "I still cherish my bones," says he!

The Wall St. Journal reports that KentSmith, founder of Lubrizol Corp. out in Cleveland, decided not to seek re-election as a director of this producer of chemical additives for lubricants and fuels.

Reports from Eben Clough are nothing if not varied. He says Kike Richardson actually thrives on 20 below zero temperatures up at his Northland hang-out - "nice and warm in camp, good eats, best provider I ever knew." Eben ordered from Kike two gallons of fancy grade maple syrup — "Mama makes the best pancakes - she cooks in a pan and Papa eats 'em fast as he can." He reports the George Simpsons down at Fort Lauderdale attended the February Dartmouth Gold Coast Cocktail and Dinner party at the Sheraton Hotel there and that George braved the ocean several times (swimming), but Charlotte sticks to the warm pool! Eben says it was colder than Siberia in Ipswich and he had to mix tasty toddies to keep warm!

For the first time in 23 years Marty Martin couldn't make his usual visit South this year. He's had his problems in that the Government has grabbed some of his buildings for renewal, forcing removal to a new location.

According to Pete Pray, Carl Gish's son, Mike '49, had his paintings mentioned in a descriptive column and was given due credit for his display in the Marine Corps art collection in Washington.

Roy LafEerty was honored at a West Orange gathering back in April with an award by the Alumni Council for combined public and College activity - with some 90-odd persons present for the occasion. Roy is also noted for his self-designed outdoor cooking activities!

A brochure from aboard the "M/S Kungsholm" at Honolulu details a cruise taken by the Howie Fullers covering the South Seas, Far East and the Pacific from early March to a New York landing in April. Howie reports good weather all the way.

Pen Aborn '14, after a bit of ribbing about a word this scribe misused in a recent column, reports a note from DuzeLounsberry, practicing on a new electric typewriter belonging to his grandsons, telling of his and Helen's visiting children and grandchildren in Washington and touring in Annapolis and vicinity. Pen also reveals that Peg (Mrs. Stuart M.) Hill visited daughter Nancy and her husband, including the five grandchildren in Boulder, Colo.

Dale Barker comes up with an interesting snapshot, taken during their trip to the West Coast, showing him and Bess arm-in-arm with Jim (Bud) and Bertha Brackett out at Laguna Hills. Bud, being a good fraternity brother whom this scribe hasn't seen since graduation, looks right in his prime!

A recent quote from a current news column has this scribe scratching his head: "Economists say a college education adds thousands of dollars to a man's income - which he then spends sending his son to college."

Dan Daniell of Green Bay, Wis., seems to think that Draino would be quite effective for certain types of operations - which may or may not meet with medical approval! Dan reports clear weather and a very reasonable winter snow-wise this year. They are opening a Branch Bank in Menominee, Mich. - "the town is really booming this year!"

On the other hand, Tony Simoneau reports "the worst winter ever this year" down in the Isle of Palms, S.C. However, he had his first swim late in March - "peach trees are in bloom and the bees are doing their job, so all looks well again."

Bob Griffin was reported convalescing nicely along mid-April at Columbia Medical Center from one of those hernia businesses that pop up on occasion. Which is remindful of a quote from Margie Clough: "Take it easy - you can't be young but once!"

Warren and Ethel Montsie celebrated a "triple-header" this year — Easter, Warren's 75th birthday, and their 40th wedding anniversary - all on the same date. "Some different," says Warren, "from the marriage day in Hanover in 1928 amid snow, sleet, and mud!" The Montsies are now residents of Florida, although they still spend some time each summer on Cape Cod with a brief visit to Hanover and their offspring in Durham, N. H.

So - here we are with vacations in the offing and we wish pleasant and happy sojourns to all who are so blessed "In the Good Old Summertime!"
