Emilie (Mrs. Alton S. Sr.) Palmer is fast catching up with Sig Sigler as "most faithful correspondent," having written us several times about her Dartmouth memorabilia. A recent note describes an album jacket (for a 78 r.p.m. record, now broken) entitled "Dartmouth in Song. Dartmouth Glee Club, Seven songs recorded by RCA. James Campion, Inc., Hanover, New Hampshire." She thinks it dates from the forties or fifties and wonders if it might be of interest to anyone in the Dartmouth family or is "even important enough to talk about." Does anyone have an opinion? Emilie's address is 303 Palm Way, Tavares, FL 32778.
A friend has given me a copy of the 25th Anniversary issue of New Hampshire Profiles (February 1977), which features an article about our own Sherman Adams during his two terms as New Hampshire's chief executive and five years as Eisenhower's Chief of Staff. Filled with wonderful "Adamsdotes" about his prodigious capacity for work (and play), it brings back fond memories of the Sherm we knew and of his "Plum, Rachel, who kept her sometimes cantankerous spouse in line. If your local library has a back file of Profiles, you might enjoy looking up this issue.
Meanwhile, if you have any "Adamsdotes" or anecdotes about classmates no longer with us, they would be most welcome for these notes. Or any news or thoughts whatsoever.
