Fletcher Clark '12 Honored as Class Treasurer of the Year
JUNE 1968

Honored as Class Treasurer of the Year at the annual meeting of class officers in Hanover on May 11 was Fletcher Clark '12. The citation accompanying the award read:

During the 18 years that you have been Treasurer of the Class of 1912 you have become better and better at the job. And while this award might easily have been made before in recognition of your outstanding performances, it is especially fitting that we honor you this year when you have made history by getting 100% of the 75 living graduates of your class to pay dues, the first time such perfection has been achieved for a group larger than 48 men.

This remarkable accomplishment is part of your overall record of dues collected from 83% of the entire class, second highest among all the classes of whatever size. ALUMNI MAGAZINE circulation in your class is a healthy 93% and you also carry 50 widows on the 1912 list.

More than 50 years' experience as a lawyer may have something to do with your persuasiveness. And from your career in Middleboro, Mass., it can be deduced that proper training for a top class treasurer includes 45 years as Town Moderator and nearly 25 as president of the Middleboro Savings Bank, not to mention your being treasurer of the Slocum Gibbs Cranberry Company.

In a busy life you have always found time for Dartmouth and your Class, and the Dartmouth Class Treasurers Association had the benefit of your presidency in 1961-62. Two Dartmouth sons, Fletcher '45 and Edward '52, give you additional strong ties to the College.

For the quality of your Dartmouth loyalty and activity, and specifically for your superlative achievement as 1912's financial officer, we honor you as Dartmouth Class Treasurer of the Year.
