Francis Childs, Ruth and Elliot Cogswell,Max Hartmann, Bill Page, and I represented the class of 1906 at the Bicentennial. In spite of the rain we enjoyed the celebration very much.
The Class of 1906 made a very good showing this year in the Alumni Fund especially in the In Memoriam division. Every widow who made a gift in the 1968 drive also gave in 1969 and in addition fourteen who did not give in 1968 gave in 1969. A total of sixty widows gave $2481 which was $452.00 more than last year.
Now that the Alumni Fund is over I hope every one will send a gift to the Third Century Fund.
On May 18, 1969 Mary and WilliamPage celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Bill has led an interesting and useful life and is still very active. He is interested in antique trolley cars and has helped in the reconstruction of one purchased in Maryland at the Shady Gap Electric Railway plant.
I hope everyone saw the picture of Francis Childs in the July issue of the ALUMNIMAGAZINE. It sure was a great honor for him to be selected as the principal speaker at the dedication of the new headstone placed on the grave of Eleazar Wheelock.
Chubb Chase writes that it is necessary for him to walk with a cane but otherwise is in very good shape. Hopes to be around to celebrate his 90th birthday.
Warner White writes that Nantucket is overrun with off-islanders and confusion is rampant.
The Class will be sorry to hear that Herbert Cummings died on July 6, 1969.
Have just learned that Alan Parrish passed away in Paris, Ill., on October 16, 1968.
The only classmate who has a birthday in October is Shorty Neal.
