A bequest from Edward C. Ford to the Marshfield Historical Society made possible the dedication this fall of the Old Winslow School built in 1857 and in continuous use until 1910 as a one-room district school. It is located at the corner of Careswell and Webster streets on land once the property of Daniel Webster and deeded to the town by his heirs for school purposes. The original stove, original double desks, old maps, textbooks, and blackboard give it an authenticity not usually found in restorations today. With the Old Winslow House and Daniel Webster's law office across the street and now the old schoolhouse museum this corner is the fulfillment of one of Ned's ideas.
