It seems proper that every Dartmouth class should occasionally count its blessings and so as we enter the 39th year since leaving Hanover, we give thanks that we have lived through this exciting post-graduation period, that we have seen the wonders of man's flight to the moon, that we have grown closer as a class than we were in college, that we have been blessed with wise leadership which has set as its goal a strengthening of this closeness, and that we have the wisdom to understand Dartmouth as it is today.

At this particular point of time, those of us who are stay-at-homes will be thinking of the segment of the class that is reuning in Venezuela, perhaps at this moment visiting Canaima or Margarita Island "the most undiscovered island in the Caribbean" or riding to the top of Mount Avila in a cable car for a panoramic view of Caracas, or perhaps we will be thinking of Hanover and the crunch of feet on snow. Hither is a pleasant thought.

Fred Scribner has been named general counsel of the Republican National Committee. This is his third term in this office which will keep him hopping between Portland and Washington.

Dr. Clarence Fraser has prepared a Report on Confidential Inquiries in Maternal Deaths in the District of Columbia, 1950-1964 which is scholarly and will serve as a basis for reduction of this problem.

For the past fourteen years, Gwen andDick Bowlen have been publishing a Christmas letter and we await it eagerly in hopes of being "mentioned." Dick modestly reports that he climbed up to Tuckerman Ravine again last April for skiing on the headwall. Harry Dunning has been elected chairman of the board of Scott Paper Company while continuing to serve as chief executive.

We have learned of the deaths of Ira C. Thurmond on July 30, 1967, and Parker E.Sawyer on December 14, 1968, and our sympathy is extended to their families.

Class meeting on May 9-10 in Hanover. Make your reservations now at the Hanover Inn.
