Our classmate, Nelson A. Rockefeller, died in New York City on January 26. The class was represented at the Riverside Church memorial service by Meade Alcorn, Shaw Cole, JohnFrench, Carl Haffenreffer, Ev Lowe, HermSchneebeli, Bob McClory, Fred Page, AveRaube, Charlie Raymond, Pat Weaver, and JackWooster.

John Marsh spent the better part of his work career in Libya and was unable to participate in class activities. Now established in Fort Lauderdale, he writes: "Flavia and I have just returned from a three-week holiday vacation trip to Wilder, Vt., where we visited with son Doug and his family. We had a beautiful white Christmas, our first in 28 years, and had many pleasant days with Doug, Paula, and granddaughter Dawn Marie. While hiking around the campus I thought of the 100 feet of 16-mm color film my Dad took of our graduation exercises. Among other views, it shows shots of the class procession across campus to the Bema and also of the one to the final exercise at Webster Hall. It includes shots of Fred Scribner giving his valedictory and Johnny French his class president's oration. We expect to go back to Wilder in September and I thought that if there is a fall reunion at that time I might bring along the movie with projector and screen to show the classmates in attendance." I have encouraged him to do just that, and others in the class might want to contribute additional footage.

Al Schumaker, retired from Continental Can Company of Canada, is living in Toronto and a while back on a trip to the West Coast visited with John Henry in Greenbank, Wash. John is reported to have retired from his lumber business around 1960. Fred Tangeman (San Diego) regrets his past inability to join our northeast corridor activities but hopes to find his way back now that their daughter has moved to Baltimore. Pat Weaver is completing his fifth year as president of the Muscular Dystrophy Association but still finds time to ski at Alta and other deep-powder areas. No retiree he, WinStone is working on a citation index for the Institute of Scientific Information, which is now branching into the arts and humanities. The index will cover all articles in 900 magazines and list all citations. He is also "putting TheBiography of David Garritt through the press," a 15-year project now nearing completion.

Ellie and John French with Barbara andHarry Condon plan a month's trip to China in July. This is to assure you that the Frenches will be in Woodstock in September, and that they have again invited all classmates to attend their cocktail party on Friday, September 21.

A 1 Ritchie, retired from his work in personnel placement, is living in Liverpool, N.Y. Dorothy and he have recently traveled to the British Isles. Their daughter Susan has just completed her MA and RN studies and hopes to work in the nurse/practitioner field. Son David is librarian at SUNY, Cortland.

We have learned with sorrow of the deaths of Barbara Michel and Helen Jackson, widows of Cliff Michel and Kirk Jackson.

Meade Alcorn is considering a class executive meeting to be held in May in the Hartford area. On the agenda will be an updating of our 50th reunion plans. Think June 6-8, 1980.
