With the state's lew attorney general installed and functioning in office I suppose it is time to reveal to alumni around the country that the man is none other than Slade Gorton '49 who won a real squeaker of an election that was not decided until the write-in vote was tallied. Both Dartmouth and the Class of '49 were well represented in that particular election as one of the leading candidates on the Democratic side was Marvin Durning '49.

Unknown to the rest of the country, our native paradise of Western Washington has been burdened with a deluge of Vermonttype weather that has brought everything scheduled in January to a screeching halt and cancelled every meeting imaginable. Among the postponements were the previously announced after-dinner lecture series, announced recently in this column. However, the first of these enlightening events is now definitely scheduled for March 13 at 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Athletic Club and will feature Dr. Charles Odegaard '32, President of the University of Washington, who will speak on the problems of higher education. This meeting will be held in conjunction with the local alumni associations of Yale, Princeton, and Wellesley, an ecumenical movement that' will also bear fruit in the form of a joint luncheon in February and a bus trip and tour of the Boeing 747 plant in Everett for the family, a February function being coordinated with the alumni of the Harvard Business School.
