All things are relative. The monthly deadline for this column seems to appear about every ten days, while the daily mail bringing your secretary material for this column seems to arrive only about once a month.

A recent newspaper clipping announced the election of Clint Reynolds as president of the Worcester (Mass.) County Dartmouth College Club. Clint, a graduate of Harvard Law School, is presently serving as a vice president of the Paul Revere Life Insurance Company in Worcester.

Larry Norton has been elected vice president of sales of the Mill Division of Hoerner Waldorf Corporation. Since graduation, Larry has held positions with Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Co. in North Carolina, Gilman Paper Co. in New York City, and Henley Paper Co. in North Carolina. In 1957 he joined Albermarle Paper Company in Richmond, Va., and in 1964 was elected vice president of sales for that organization. His new duties presumably have taken him to St. Paul, Minn., but, to date, we do not have a new address for him.

Thanks to a classmate who wished to remain anonymous attention has been called to the fact that Bob Krieger's daughter Gretchen, a hostess with Northwest Orient Airlines, was featured in her company's February advertising campaign. If you notice the Northwest ads which were headed "Our flights to Tokyo aren't all-American anymore," Gretchen was the good-looking gal in the lower right hand corner.

Bernie Doriss is joining the ranks of inlaws and potential grandfathers. His daughter Susan is to be married later in the spring.

There was an article in the New York Times in mid February on university clubs in New York. Featured, of course, were posh establishments of Yale, Harvard, and Princeton. The Dartmouth Club, however, came in for a small share of the limelight thanks to a couple of quotes from prexy Bruce Friedlich who also is secretary of the Dartmouth Club of New York. The Friedlichisms, relative to the New York Dartmouth Club, as reported by the New York Times, are as follows. "We're small. We're also poor, but we have decided to sex the place up a bit." To this end, the lights in the dining room have been dimmed (this makes the women look younger), and Bruce is quoted as being in favor of "priming the pump": letting the female guest of a member have her first drink free. Also, when questioned by the Times as to whether or not there is any special advantage to belonging to a university club our esteemed leader was quoted as replying "well, yes, the drunks are not complete strangers."

A note from Red Taft reports, without elaborating, that he spent a night in North Hampton with Dick Whittier recently. Red's son, Jerry, graduates from the University of Wisconsin and goes from there to the Air Force Officers' Training School. His daughter, but her future plans were not included in the note. Red closed with a mournful comment to the effect that he saw six football games last fall, but only two victories. I'm sure we all join in hoping that his batting average is better this year.

Just had a fine newsy letter from Lew Johnstone. However, since we have been asked to hold back on our column a little this month to make room for a special feature, this will be the lead item in next month's column. I hope some of you will follow Lew's example and come through with a few more items of news to carry us to the summer vacation.
