Apparently 1941 is asking for the title of the most unnewsworthy class. Aside from two brief news items which your secretary clipped from the local papers, there hasn't been one word of news in the past 30 days.
The first news clip concerned Dick Hill. He and Polly were in Tokyo in late February to host a reception given by the First National Bank of Boston in connection with that institution's opening of a representative office there for Japan and East Asia. This was the second action taken by the bank since the first of the year in the expansion of its activities in the Orient. In January the First announced it had joined the Industrial Bank of Japan and 15 leading Japanese corporations to form Pacific Lease Co., Ltd., Tokyo, the first Edge Act investment made in Japan by an American bank.
At about the same time in February, the Israel Bond Organization of New York announced that Lloyd Fishman had added to his already busy schedule by accepting the co-chairmanship of the 1970 Manchester, N. H., Israel Bond Campaign, part of a world-wide effort to raise a total of $250,000,000 in investment capital for the immediate economic development of the state of Israel. In addition to his duties as vice president and treasurer of Standard Uniform Rental Service of Manchester, Lloyd is an incorporator of the Amoskeag Savings Bank, treasurer of the Institute of Industrial Launderers, and a member of the Board of Directors of Temple Adath Yeshurun of which he is also a past president.
Frank "Mouse" Hall has just been elected president of the nation's second oldest advertising agency, Albert Frank-Guenther Law, Inc., in New York City. He has been with the agency since 1946 and was elected a vice president in 1953, a director in 1961, and in 1967 chairman of the executive committee. He will continue to hold the latter position. A member of the Dartmouth Club of Long Island and the Bankers Club, he was formerly president of the New York Financial Advertising & Marketing Association.
It was indicated a few months back that the column might have to resort to a report of recent address changes. Some are listed below, and others will follow in succeeding months unless more interesting news is forthcoming.
