Professor John W. Finch, Chairman of the Drama Department, presented an indepth analysis of life at the College at the annual meeting of the Dartmouth Club of Central Pennsylvania, April 22 in Carlisle. Speaking to a small but enthusiastic group of alumni and their wives, Professor Finch brought us up-to-date on the activities of the SDS, SBD (Students Behind Dartmouth) and the other forces at work on the campus, including the possibility of co-education. Many thoughtful questions resulted from Professor Finch's articulate address.
Attending the annual meeting as a newcomer to the Harrisburg area was CharlesAdkins '32, who formerly was president of Briarcliff College and is now president of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania.
Key roles in arranging the annual meeting were played by Ken Link '56, Club secretary-treasurer, Vic Macomber '46, and Harold Van Riper '14, who delivered the invocation. John L. Burkhardt Jr., Club president, was in charge.
A review of admissions for the new freshman class was presented by Bob Staz'57, area enrollment and interviewing chairman, who pointed out that Central Pennsylvania again did well in terms of young boys admitted to the College. Of those admitted, one is Warner K. Depuy, son of Warner M.Depuy '39, of Milford, Pa., and Secretary of Revenue for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
We will continue throughout the summer with our monthly noon luncheons on the first Tuesday at the Penn Harris Motor Inn. We extend a cordial invitation to any Dartmouth visitors who find themselves in Harrisburg area on those dates.
