Third Century Fund Passes $30 Million

The Dartmouth College Third Century Fund has passed the $30,000,000 mark toward its goal of $51,000,000 Rupert C. Thompson Jr. '28, national chairman of the campaign, announced to the Dartmouth Trustees at their June meeting.

Mr. Thompson reported that eight gifts of $1,000,000 or more had been received to account for $10,000,000 of the June 14 total, and that another $10,-642,000 had been added by 43 gifts in the $100,000 to $999,000 range.

Noting that the Third Century Fund was close to two-thirds of its goal, Mr. Thompson said, "We are right on schedule with one year of campaigning left. I am confident that we can make and exceed our goal."

His report also featured an anonymous corporate support headed by a $100,000 gift from General Motors Corporation. Mr. Thompson said he was confident he would be reporting in the near future on other major gifts now under negotiation.
