William B. Durant Jr., Executive Officer for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed Associate Provost for Administration. A naval officer for more than 20 years, Mr. Durant was graduated from Harvard in 1939 with an A.B. degree and received an M.B.A. degree from George Washington University in 1952. He came to Dartmouth in 1965 after retiring from the Navy as a Captain in the Supply Corps.

The budgetary and administrative expertise he brought to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences will now be focused on the academic budget of the College in coordination with the activities of the budget officer and the treasurer. Mr. Durant will also maintain close liaison with the office of the dean of the faculty and will continue to act as executive officer for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences for the current academic year.
