The Alumni Council's "young alumni committee" has been working hard to ensure that for at least one week, June 19-27, alumni across the country are giving back to their communities. Through the first annual "National Dartmouth Community Service Week," the committee hopes to network volunteer efforts among local alumni clubs and classmates and to elevate the; role of service in their activities. A number of public-spirited clubs have already lined up projects ranging from clean-ups of historical sites to sponsorship of a summer concert. "We want to be sure that alumni know that they can participate in whatever way they can," says committee chair Seth Jacoby '90. "The effort can be as big as building a house with Habitat for Humanity or as small as a single alum donating shampoo and toothpaste to a battered woman's shelter."
