At the annual fall meeting of the Dartmouth Club Officers Association in Hanover on November 6, Eliot SwiftLawrence '55 of the Rhode Island Association was honored as Dartmouth Club President of the Year. He received a framed color print of Dartmouth Hall and the following citation:
Although you were born in the home of the Crimson, served our nation's security on the deep blue sea and now live among Brown shadows, you always have favored green—the Dartmouth Green.
After a successful five years as Head Class Agent you continued your work with the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Rhode Island and became its President last year. The Club and the College are proud of the increase in alumni participation at luncheons, the annual dinner and at gatherings when Dartmouth teams are in town again. One of the best indices of your local pride and interest is the high percentage of alumni paying dues.
With solid financial support your Club activities have included a unique award of American Heritage subscriptions to junior boys in eleven Rhode Island secondary schools. In addition the Club has added significantly to its Dartmouth Scholarship Fund. Your own contribution to the effective organization for the Glee Club Concert accounted in a large measure for its recent success.
The community and the banking profession also have benefited through your activity in allied associations. So now, we honor you for outstanding over-all service and particularly in behalf of your College and your Club. It is our privilege to recognize you as the Club President of the Year."
