To recap some recent history highlites in the Hartford Area must needs begin in one place only - the Bicentennial Concert by the Glee Club in early December. To those of us who witnessed this heartwarming event, there was no doubt that previous rave notices were well deserved. Chairmen AlGruber '64, and Steve Coit '64 had the organization down to a "D" and we even made a few dollars for our growing scholarship fund.

December ended an old decade and began a new experience at our regular luncheon meetings - a talk by a Lady Dean, one Mrs. Katherine Stevens, Assistant Dean of the College, to be exact. She and her girlstudent guest, an exchange student from Mt. Holyoke, charmed a full house of diehards and co-ed advocates alike with their warmth and humorous stories of what it's like to be a female student on the Dartmouth campus. Perhaps they even made a few converts!

Politics was the order of the day for January as Congressman John S. Managan '33 gave us a few of his insights on the current political scene in Washington. Another entirely different crowd of alumni attended, as various speakers certainly seem to draw a wide range of our Hartford membership. We trust that our food was not the precipitation of the Congressman's subsequent illness and surgery.

In February as in November, Dartmouth again topped off a winning football season by losing handily to Princeton in the final game of the season. This good news was brought to us by Coach Blackman who brought his fine color game films to the Tobacco Valley Inn on Feb. 2. His presence lured a great number of sports fans from the area, and a TV interview spread the word to a great many others. We were pleased to see a large number of area coaches and their prospective Dartmouth students in attendance for the evening event. When asked about prospects for next year, the Cautious Coach smiled and pointed out all of our obvious shortcomings, and noted how strong everyone else will be... or "another chapter in the Blackman book of how to have a winning season."

Keep an eye out for upcoming events. President Pete Schwartz '60 still has a few aces left in the way of interesting programs. He'd like us to pass along here a great Wah Hoo Wah to Rich Fisher '41 for his loyal and untiring efforts as Enrollment Chairman for our District. Rich will "retire" soon, and the Club would like him to know how greatly his many hours on behalf of area youngsters was appreciated.
